Wonderful Owner, Intriguing Building
We loved this place and the man who owns it! A monastery remodeled into a castle in the 19th century by the owner's grandfather, it's still a work in progress in untouristy, working-class Poggibonsi. If we'd known it was so close to all the hilltowns we wanted to visit, we would have tried to stay here for many more days. But never fear - we shall return.
We read reviews that the road up the hill to it was hard to navigate. Nonsense! Our only problem at all was trying to find our way to the castle through the one-way streets of Poggi. When we found it, it was SO worth the trouble.

Un lieu à découvrir ! appartement confortable, bien situé, propriétaire accueillant et convivial
Belle piscine entourée de belle pierres, de statues et agrémentée de pieds de vigne (raison au gout de fraise ),chateau néo-gothique du XVII S), appartement spacieux et correctement équipé , belle terrasse avec vue sur les vignobles de toscane

une vie de château
une vue sur la Toscane au loindu balcon ,une piscine ,calme à proximité de la ville
pas de possibilité de manger sur place .mais merci au propriétaire de nous avoir permis de prendre le petit déjeuner dans leur cuisine

Very good but good be excellent with a few simple changes!
The castle is awesome, the landscape, the place, the building itself is just great. The picture on internet does not do it justice. The owners were very nice. Location in the region is perfect.
Decoration of room inside is ugly...bathroom decoration is minimalistic for such a place, pity. No breakfast service, no internet. Place is a bit tricky to find!

Medieval Experience
The host was very friendly and helpful, beautiful swimming pool, nice garden, great views, and if you let your mind wander it’s very easy to imagine life in this castle in the middle ages. Good location to go day tripping to hill towns
Overall the Castle itself has been modernized but it was not as “elegant” as I thought, bear in mind the history of this castle gores back 1000 years and it is not a hotel. The facilities are becoming a bit dated but everything was functional and well maintained. The A/C unit did not work but there were adequate windows to let the cool evening breezes in. The window screens that were once there were gone, there was one on the bedroom window but it was torn, the only issue with that was a few flies shared our space which can be annoying. The dirt road up to the castle was very steep, long and winding, as it was designed to be to protect the Lord of the Castle. It was not hard to drive on but we did shop for groceries at the end of our day trips and cook in the kitchen as I was not keen on driving up at night.

Fabulous historic castle with tasteful restorations being undertaken.
Convenient self-contained accommodation. Many historic sites and towns in the surrounding area.
For those without a vehicle, there is a very steep hill leading up to the castle. Still very cold and wet in late May (unseasonal weather?).

arrived on holiday, nicole was great to come and drive us to castle, since many streets were closed. He invited us to fireworks, town and his own. He could do sooooo much more with this property. It would have been great to see the insides of this castle. He treats the property as a hobby, and it could be so much more
great view of surrounding towns, etc. Nicole,owner, was very nice, but should have been more attentive. He did drive us to his castle since the town traffic/roads were closed. that was very generous on his part, and he invited us to his dinner party to watch fireworks. The property grounds are beautiful, including the pool.
no waste baskets, poor lighting, no soap. Bedspread very damp (probably because the walls are 10" thick). Again, he could do so much more with this property if he paid attention to details.

Einzigartige Situation auf herrlichem gotischen Schloss. Sehr ruhig und trotzdem in nächster Umgebung von touristisch bekannten Orten. Netter unkomplizierter Vermieter
Schade dass der Pool im Oktober nicht mehr zu benutzen war.

Extraordinary vacation
The surroundings were spectacular. We arrived at a time when the castle was virtually empty and we essentially enjoyed the castle and its beautiful amenities (pool!) for ourselves. Nicola was a wonderful host recommending where to eat, what to see, etc.
The air conditioner was a little loud (we later figured out it was have been as cool to simply open the windows

situation idéale proche de San Gimignano et Sienne, calme, jolie vue, appartement bien agencé, propriétaire sympa
les extérieurs sont à aménager, piscine grande mais pas entretenue ainsi que les alentours de la piscine (chaises longues cassées). Il est aussi regrettable de ne pas avoir un service de petit déjeuner.

beautiful old accommodation surrounded by vineyards
right in the middle of Tuscany, so great for food, wine, olive oil, cheese, honey, walled towns etc etc. The castle is gorgeous, with relaxing terraces for breakfast/dinner etc.
Poggibonsi itself is not the most beautiful town in Tuscany, but that's fine so lobng as you have a car.

An amazing venue in a fabulous area.
Secluded, very quiet, could walk into small town, lovely outdoor areas, tables and chairs in private outdoor dining areas, beautiful views, accommodation really different. Owner/manager helpful when needed, stayed out of way when not, good food shopping nearby and a few nice restaurants and bars, great proximity to sienna and san gimi
Kitchen small, but produce so nice didn't cook a lot. Were promised a bottle of bubbly as it was our honeymoon but didn't appear, bit hard to find and one way system in poggi a bit confusing,road up to castle was interesting!!

Loved the Castle and the Owners
Owners made us feel expecially welcome.
The weather was cold and damp, but the heater was very good.

Owner was great, and the setting was beautiful. We spent a lot of time at the pool, and when we did go to other towns the owner gave us tips on where to eat, etc.
We became quick friends with other guests and spent a good deal of time sharing stories, and had a barbeque with them and the owners

This exceeded expectations. The accomodations were not luxurious but were spotless and the setting fabulous. The owners were very helpful with any requests. the pool and views were stunning. Poggibonsi was a great spot to base seeing the sites of that part of Tuscany. we rented a car but walking down to the town for dinner was easy and for seeing sites such as Florence and Siena the train/bus access was incredibly efficient and very affordable.
I would highly recommend this location.

Great base camp for daily excursions
Comfortable, clean and convenient. Cool castle in amongst the vineyards, with a great view. The pool was super for cooling off and relaxing after a hot day's sightseeing in Florence, Siena or surrounding Tuscan hill towns.
You will need your own transport, e.g. a rental car. Its a long hike from public transport.

We vonden het hier fantastisch. Mooi uitzicht, heerlijk zwembed (lekker rustig) en een bijzonder kasteeltje met ophaalbrug. Echt leuk!
Loopafstand van het dorpje waar je ook uit eten kunt gaan (wel kasteelheuveltje op en af). Goede uitvalswegen, goede ligging. Rustige omgeving. Bij aankomst fles wijn van de wijngaarde die bij het kasteel hoort.
Keuken was beperkt qua pannen en materiaal. We hebben zelf nog een grotere pan gekocht.

Our host Nicola was friendly and helpful before we even arrived. He made sure that all of our needs were met in every way. The Castle, grounds, and surroundings are very beautiful.

proprietario molto gentile e disponibile, ci ha consigliato ristoranti e luoghi da visitare, oltre ad averci raccontato la storia del castello.luogo pulito e discreto, bellissima la piscina anche se colpa del tempo non abbiamo potuto usufruirne.

Romantisch verblijf in kasteel.
Prachtig uitzicht op de torens van Sam Giminiano. Kamers romantisch ingericht. Heerlijk zwembad op binnenplaats omringd door kantelen. Restaurants op loopafstand, dichtbij uitvalswegen naar alle mooie plekjes in Toscane.

A great place to start and end your Tuscany adventures each day.
Although the city is not really a tourist city, we were able to easily drive all over the Tuscany region easily, from Firenze to Pisa to Sienna. The room we rented had two big balconies, a bedroom with a separate alcove which could be used for a small child, and a well-equipped kitchen. The nearby Co-op (a huge grocery store) was great for purchasing groceries for simple breakfasts, the occasional meal and wine.
It was very difficult for us to find (even with a map) and we needed help from a local - and even then it was difficult to find.

Proche de la ville et non en pleine campagne, mais isolé sur les hauteurs : obligation de prendre la voiture dans tous les cas (pour aller dans la nature ou en ville).

Ikke noe spesielt. Kanskje litt bedre vedlikehold og noe bedre rydding ger og der på eiendommen.

Poggibonsi 748 est un magnifique château haut perché extraordinaire.
Le Château a connu une histoire extraordinaire. Sa localisation est parfaite et le maître des lieux est très sympathique. Patrimoine historique hors du commun, vue surplombant toute la campagne des envirions et en plein coeur de la Toscane. Ma famille et moi-même y avons passé nos plus belles vacances. Une piscine de grande taille. Calme luxe et volupté. Bravo et merci pour tout Nicola.
Lors de notre séjour, pas de petit déjeuner prévu si je me souviens bien mais Nicola est tellement sympathique que cela pourrait être prévu

That was the highlight of our wonderful vacation in Italy. Our host was very helpful and attentive to our needs. The castle was very interesting and its' location allowed us to visit many interesting sites. We hope that we can come back for another stay at this wonderful place.
The owner greeted us with a bottle of wine from his vineyards and was very helpful with recommendations for local travel and restuarants.
We were completely pleased with all aspects of our visit to this place. The only negative part of our Tuscany vacation was the the arrival of "tickets" and "credit card charges" for entering a "restricted zone" in Florence. In fact we had rented an apartment inside the restricted zone and had followed instructions provided by this place (nome di un ' altra struttura Antica Dimora Firenze!!!). We parked in the garage where we were told to park and were assured that they would take care of the notices to the police. Unfortunately when the "Notice of Fines" arrived nearly a year later, we did not have the receipts from the parking garage. To this day, I do not know if I can return to Italy without the risk of problems due to this wrongful fine.

We stayed here in 2006 during a six week tour of France and Italy. This place was by far the highlight! The castle is amazing and the views just lovely. It's such a fantastic and unique place to stay, I would always highly recommend it. The host was just lovely and the whole experience one our family would love to repeat! Thank you for the opportunity to tell others how fantastic Poggibonsi 748 is! :-)
The pool, the view, the romantic balcony over looking the vines from the winery!
The kitchen could do with an upgrade but it was fine really.

Our stay at this place was by far the most exciting and charming part of our vacation in Italy. Our apartment had a terrace next to it that had gorgeous views of the Tuscan countryside. After the crowds of Rome and Florence, we needed the calm beauty of the rolling hills of Tuscany. The pool was also a very pleasant experience. We would sleep until late in our charming \"Limonaia\" apartment, have coffee overlooking the hills of Tuscany, go for an afternoon tour of one of the medieval towns and then come back for a swim in the pool. The castle has the advantage of being located in close proximity to many great places to visit, including San Gimignano and Siena.
The owner and manager was very friendly and welcoming. The location is also great because you can make one-day trips to many great locations and come back to the castle to sleep.
You could not book the castle with a credit card when we wanted to make a reservation.

the owner was the best! it was the first time we stayed into a castle, and i ask to visit it all...and he did naturally. He also ofeerd us a wine bottle from the castle. I will return anytime...
The apartment was nig enoough for two people and well equiped..
